Anorexia Diet Tips You've Never Heard Before
... At Least Not In This Context

Anorexia diet tips typically come from those who claim to be 'pro eating disorders' and do not want anorexia nervosa recovery for themselves.

Extreme Dieting and the deliberate promotion of disordered eating definitely contributes to the causes of anorexia. Additionally, if someone is repeatedly surfing pro anorexia web sites, then the behavior becomes of the many symptoms of anorexia.

It's fairly widely known that there are web sites on the internet that specifically encourage anorexia as an actual lifestyle.

This is just another example of media influences on eating disorders - only this time, the media is the internet.

The internet so easily accessible that young people can visit pro ana websites for hours on end without anyone suspecting a thing. As of now, there is still no way to regulate, or prevent, their existence.

"Thinspo" images are posted on just about every page, and in site member profiles. Supposedly this helps to create the mindset that "thin is better" and you can achieve happiness as long as you're thin.

Well, the reality is - if you're as thin as these young people are aiming for, then you won't be around long enough to enjoy that so-called "happiness".

In contrast, I'd like to offer some different anorexia diet tips.

These are my "Top 5" tips that anorexics can use to begin to improve their health, and start their journey to recovery. They may look simple enough, but if you've been struggling with an eating disorder, these are monumental steps that need to be taken.

1. Treat The Medical Complications Of Anorexia

There are many medical complications of anorexia and other eating disorders which is why it's imperative to see a medical doctor before you do anything else.

S/he will assess your health, which certainly will include analysis of blood work and vital signs, among other things.

It's also really helpful if your doctor has a experience or some kind of in-depth knowledge about eating disorders. If they don't, you may not get the proper treatment that you need - or deserve.

2. See A Dietitian Who Can Deal With Cognitive Disorders

You will need a dietitian who is capable of dealing with cognitive disorders. They need to be able to go several steps beyond the basic "here's your food guide" kind of counseling.

This will be vitally important for reclaiming your healthy body - and mind. Your doctor will probably have made the referral, so the dietitian should have the necessary medical information to build a proper diet plan.

Dietitians in particular can review blood work results and if something is missing (low iron, for example), they can suggest a meal plan that will focus on building up the iron in your system.

3. Get Therapy With An Eating Disorder Specialist

It's crucial that your counselor be an eating disorder specialist. If they aren't, they won't be able to fully understand the cognitive distortions and other emotional complications that go along with eating disorders.

Research has shown that people with eating disorders typically do better in therapy if there's a conversational approach to it rather than clinical. I definitely found this to be true. Those white lab coats are intimidating!

4. No More Anorexia Diet Tips - Get Rid Of Those Scales!

Yes, you heard right. Get rid of those scales! They will not be helpful to you in recovery. In fact, they will probably be a huge source of distractions and temptations. You don't need that.

It's difficult to give up the control, but it really is best if you can allow your doctor and/or dietitian monitor your weight. They will definitely let you know if they have any concerns, and this frees you up to focus on your recovery and opposed to numbers on a scale.

5. Keeping A Journal Can Be Helpful

Have you ever considered keeping a journal? Perhaps you already do. It can be a great tool for your journey to recovery.

I wasn't much of a writer, and I had a difficult time coming up with journal writing ideas, but in the end, it's not about being perfect or writing a best selling novel.

With your recovery journal can write about anything you like - whether it's random thoughts, disturbing thoughts, doodling, or even things that you might want to discuss with your therapist.

Going back months later to review your notes is very insightful. You can learn a lot about yourself, and that is how you can being to change, and develop your own, healthy anorexia diet tips.
