Does Anorexia Stunt Growth?
My daughter became anorexic for about 9 months right after her first period, at the age of 12. She is now 14 and a half, and has grown less than an inch since then -- she is 5 ft tall. She went from the 50th percentile in height to the 10th. She has completely recovered, but is still a very "careful" eater. She will never eat junk food, but she eats cheese and meat, etc.
I firmly believe that she has stunted growth because of anorexia. I am 5'2" but her father is 5'11 and she may not make it to my height at this rate.
Any words of wisdom out there? Does anorexia stunt growth?
