I Just want a Fresh Start
My daughter has been at an inpatient clinic for the
treatment of anorexia since February 2011.
In that time she has been viewed by 5 different psychiatrists and few are specialized in eating disorders. We have only received 2 family therapy sessions. She was abruptly discharged for three weeks on the basis that she would not confide in anyone at the clinic, would not adhere to medication, and the family did not trust the so-called team at the clinic.
On a threat of Certification, she was admitted back into inpatient treatment. The doctor at present has stated that until she submits her eating disorder issues verbally and shows signs of engagement, she must remain an inpatient.
Health issues have since become secondary on the road to recovery. I feel this type of coercion is only encouraging my daughter to turn inward to the eating disorder for comfort and control.
Many times my daughter has asked to be discharged to try outpatient treatment, only to have her requests fall on deaf ears, or be told that they know what is s best at this time.
I too have scoured the internet and spoken with people looking for appropriate treatment for her age and demographics. That grey area is becoming greyer every day.
The name given to me by the so-called professionals is, "Grizzly Bear Mom".
